Kumbh Mela Dates 2025

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, an integral part of Hindu tradition, is renowned globally as the largest peaceful congregation of people on the earth. This festival is a testament to the human quest for divine and spiritual liberation, representing the belief in freedom from the continuous cycle of birth, death, and rebirth.

The Kumbh Mela takes 12 years to get a repeat on the same location except in Prayag Raj and Haridwar.

The Prayagraj Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj – city of Uttar Pradesh (Land of all Lords) takes place in every 12 years and 6 years before every Purna Kumbh Mela on the Sangam of three holy rivers – Ganga, Yamuna and Sarasvati. This Sangam is known as Triveni Sangam (confluence of Three Holy Rivers).

In this Maha Kumbh festival, the Hindus wash themselves off in the holy rivers to give away all their sins. In 2019, Kumbh Mela Packages attracted a crowd of 24 million including 1 million foreign tourists (Non Hindus), this is as per the Govt. of India data.

The Bathing Dates of Maha Kumbh (Shahi Snan) for 2025 are from Makar Sankranti (First Shahi Snan – First Royal Bathing) on 14th January 2025 to Maha Shivratri on 26th February’ 2025 as below:
